Commemorative Plaque for Pier Paolo Pasolini

The plaque is located at 9 Via Eufrate, in front of the building where Pasolini lived from 1963—after having resided for over a decade in Monteverde—until November 2, 1975, the day of his tragic death at the Idroscalo of Ostia.

This was therefore his last Roman residence, situated in the EUR district, described by Pasolini himself in the poem La ricerca di una casa (“The Search for a Home”), included in the collection Poesie in forma di rosa (Turin, Garzanti, 1964).

The ground-level plaque, set among the cobblestones, is rectangular, made of polished steel with bronze edging, and bears the following inscription: “Here lived with his beloved mother / Pier Paolo Pasolini / Rome, 15 September 2022 / Municipio Roma IX.”

It was inaugurated on September 15, 2022, on the occasion of the centenary of Pasolini’s birth (1922–2022) and as part of 9 da leggere, the First Edition of the Reading and Literature Festival organized and promoted by Municipio Roma IX.
